Ascoli Satriano
Ascoli Satriano is located on a plateau that is divided into three hills, Pompei, Castello and Serpente, at the foot of the Monti Dauni and overlooking the Tavoliere and the Gargano. The historic center, a succession of old houses, shops, “bassi” and noble palaces, extends into a characteristic labyrinth of alleys flowing into small squares dating back to the feudal period.
Not to be missed, the Polo Museale which preserves the famous Griffins in polychrome marble and the findings of the Roman villa of Faragola, as well as the Archaeological Park of the Dauni, a real open-air museum that extends along the gentle slopes of the Serpente hill guarding the Ofanto valley.
